The University of Sydney uses The Careers Department platform to provide students with an exploratory experience where they can learn about career options. The Careers Department is a third-party platform that provides industry-based learning and employability resources.

 

When you access and use The Careers Department platform, The Careers Department will collect personal information about you on the University’s behalf, including:

• Account information, including first name, last name, university email address, course enrolment, study year and student type.

• Questions about your career plan, experience, personal traits, values and interests.

• Interaction with the content on the platform.

 

Your personal information is collected by The Careers Department and used by the University to engage with you. We may also use your personal information to:

• Contact you via your student emails to conduct a survey.

• Understand on how you interact with the platform and to determine whether this will be a suitable tool for career planning.

• Combine with datasets that identify your demographic information, enrolment information and what career services you have accessed, to inform the tailoring of University career services for different student cohorts. This analysis will be completed on aggregated data, and any reported outcomes will be de-identified.

 

Providing your personal information is voluntary, however is required to register on the platform. By participating in the use of The Careers Department, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as outlined in this Privacy Collection Statement. If you choose not to provide it, you will not be able to use The Careers Department platform.

 

Your information will be stored securely and managed in accordance with our Recordkeeping Policy.
