The task asked students to select, research and produce a report on a genetic disease. Students then had to respond to a scenario about their chosen disease as if they were “genetic counsellors”.

Ryan produced a thoroughly detailed report on ‘Usher’s Syndrome’ followed by a sophisticated course of action to be taken by a genetic counsellor. The in-depth report coupled with Ryan’s critical thinking skills provided a thoughtful conclusion as a cost-effective and less invasive option was provided as a resolution to the scenario.

Skills Developed: Critical Thinking, Information Literacy & Decision Making.
