What is a Property Developer?

A property developer has the aim of improving a building’s value and leasing or selling it. They captain the whole process, from purchasing the land to building and developing facilities.

Part Two

When you are submitting a property for development to a local council you need to answer questions about the need for the project. Click on the numbers on the image and then research your local area to answer the questions for the proposal.

Part Three

Once the site is approved you need to help develop the marketing campaign that will sell the land!

Prepare some collateral to sell your local area to potential buyers. This could be in the format of a video, a Powerpoint presentation, or something else – be creative!

Some things to think about:

  • The name of the development. For example, "Green Hills."

  • Your target audience for marketing. For example, are you selling to young families? If so, why?

  • The price of a block of land with a house on it.

  • Build a moodboard showing what kind of houses will be built in the development.

Part One

A ‘feasibility study’ is a report that property developers create to determine the value of the property.

Use the proposed subdivision design here and consider factors such as:

  • The size of the blocks.

  • The location of the blocks (your local area).

Calculate how much the development is worth from a real estate value perspective. You can use tools like to scope the market value.

To present this information fill out the table in the downloadable template. Next to each block number, state a market price, and list the reasons for this price.

The Brief

You have been invited to assist a property developer who has recently purchased a large plot of land. For this task, pretend that this block of land is in your local area:

The developer intends to sell 25 blocks of land on this 25 acre site.

Once you have finished your response please submit it below in one document. Accepted file formats include powerpoint or pdf.  If you are submitting a video, remember to insert it within a powerpoint presentation.

This is a professional document that you are presenting to your client; so you should format the pages to look professional. It needs 'wow factor'.

Good luck!

Thanks for submitting!
